Most people with a big brother know that no matter how old you get, that big brother never stops giving out advice. Kate Savage’s brother is eleven years older than her and she says he has always been like a second dad. She laughs, “He’s always trying to help me figure out what I want to do with my life, whether I ask for it or not.”
So, when that big brother’s wife’s friend (Otteroo founder, Tiffany Chiu) was looking for someone to help grow her company, Kate’s brother knew exactly who to recommend.
Kate started working for Otteroo part-time as the social media manager before she even met Tiffany in person. “I am primarily the social media manager, but that means a lot more than just posting on Facebook,” Kate describes. “Being a company of very few people, I’ve been doing many different tasks,” she says, “Every day has been new, and it’s been very exciting.”
In the summer of 2017, Kate left her sales position at a winery in Sonoma County to join Otteroo full time. This was also right about the time Otteroo started receiving lots of media attention and social media buzz. Kate really got thrown into the deep end but has had no problem keeping her head above water.
“When I took on this job, I knew it was going to be a challenge, unlike anything I had done before,” Kate says. “But, being around somebody who is an entrepreneur (Tiffany), and such a successful one, has taught me so much.”
