We suggest purchasing LUMI, but waiting to use it until they are 8+ weeks. LUMI is larger in diameter which means that floatie itself may be too big for your little one to reach the edge, making it difficult for them to interact with toys, and you! It also has a larger inner ring. If you want to get started right away, please go with MINI!

Test whether you have fully inflated Otteroo. Buckle it up, then gently press your hand against the area where the two ends meet from the inside. The ends will not push out when it is fully inflated. If it's under-inflated, the ends will push out. 

Fill the tub deep enough so the baby's body is mostly floating and the feet are barely touching the bottom. This helps prevent them from kicking too hard off the floor and causing excessive splashing. 

Buckle up! Make sure the baby’s chin is positioned on the chin rest. The space between the baby's neck and the inner rim of the floatie should feel snug. You should be able to easily fit, without using force, one finger between the floatie and their neck (it's easiest to test this if you go from the top down, near their ear). 

Note, for younger babies who haven’t developed a strong neck yet, it is easier to put on Otteroo with two sets of hands – one to hold the baby, and the other to put the floatie on. However, it is still possible to put it on by yourself with the help of a pillow or a seat like the Bumbo, for example.

We ask that you do the bubble test each time because it is the best way to check for leaks (very small tears may not be visible). Wear and tear is expected in inflatables, and may be caused by the way the Otteroo is stored or transported - or just extensive usage! As with any inflatable, please STOP using your Otteroo if you detect a leak and do not attempt to fix it yourself, and please submit a warranty request. 

Otteroo works in most standard-sized tubs! You want the water deep enough so that your baby is mostly floating, instead of sitting on the bottom of the tub (while wearing Otteroo). If your baby is bigger, or particularly active/strong, it is very important that there is enough water so that when they kick off the bottom, they can’t push off the tub with too much force. Doing so could cause your baby to tip over, and repetitive forceful pushing against the tub wall can wear down the floatie. You can prevent too forceful a kick by making sure that your baby’s feet are only able to skim the floor when their legs are straight, or take your Otteroo to a pool where there is more room for them to use their arms and legs freely!

We recommend a slightly lower temperature than your baby’s regular bath, especially when they really start kicking, splashing and moving around. Like any exercise, all this fun will raise their body temperature, so cooler water will help them not get too flushed.`

Otteroo is made with high-grade PVC that is thicker and more durable than the industry standard. It has been certified by a United States Consumer Product Safety Commission-accredited lab to be lead-free and phthalates-free (DBP, BBP, DEHP, DINP, DNOP, DIDP). We also only print on the inner surfaces of the floatie so that your baby will not risk ingesting any ink.

Your baby can start using the Otteroo MINI at just 2 weeks old as long as they weigh 6 pounds or more and has been cleared for their first bath. Otteroo LUMI can be used at 8 weeks old as long as they weigh 9 pounds or more. Babies can comfortably use the Otteroo MINI until they weigh 18 pounds and the Otteroo LUMI until they weigh 35 pounds.

Otteroo warrants that its products are free of defects in materials or workmanship for one (1) year from the date of purchase (proof of purchase required). This limited warranty applies to the original purchaser provided 1) that the product was purchased from otteroo.com or an authorized distributor/retailer and 2) is returned at the customer’s expense. Otteroo will only ship warrantied replacements within the United States. Any product falling under this warranty period will be replaced at Otteroo’s discretion. Otteroo retains the right to determine whether the claim is valid and whether damage is caused by non-manufacturing issues, misuse, improper care and/or negligence, wear and tear due to normal use, overuse, and use for commercial purposes or other than personal home use. Please contact us to submit a warranty claim.

You may return your Otteroo within 30 days of your order date, no questions asked. All returns are subject to a $5 restocking fee. If using the free return label provided, the return must be mailed within 7 days of requesting the return.
